[JPL] Dick Carr's Big Bands Ballads & Blues Canceled by WOR

 Dick Carr's Big Bands Ballads & Blues, the weekly mix of jazz and the
standards that has aired every Saturday overnight on WOR 710 for the last
four years,  has been dropped by WOR, effective our last show on New Years
Eve. Lots of musicians on their way home from Saturday gigs and other "stay
awake" fans of the music mix and Dick Carr stories may be interested.
Unfortunately, in spite of loyal advertising support from J&R Music and
Computer World, WOR has decided to cut the cost related to airing the show
and replace it with paid talk special interest programs. The move by WOR
will result in the entire network of over sixty or more stations coast to
coast being cancelled as well. That includes WVNJ in Bergen County who also
carried the show during the late afternoon hours on the weekend.
